Tom Dvorak - Dressage Athlete of the Month May 2018

Equestrian Canada (EC) has named Tom Dvorak of Hillsburgh, ON the May 2018 Red Scarf Equestrian Dressage Athlete of the month in recognition of the exceptional results he earned at the Ottawa Dressage Festival (ODF), held May 17-20, 2018 in Ottawa, ON.

Dvorak swept the ODF small tour leaderboard, posting high scores with two of Carla Bahr’s Dutch Warmblood geldings: nine-year-old Cyrus (Contucci x Cor Noir) and 16-year-old Ribot (Reno x Cor Noir).

Dvorak and Cyrus are seemingly unstoppable in their second year of partnership. The duo captured first in all three CDI 1* classes: the Prix St. Georges on May 18 (71.078%), the Intermediate I on May 19 (73.039%), and the CDI 1* Intermediate I Freestyle on May 20, where they earned a personal best score of 75.875%.

With Ribot, Dvorak took second place in the CDI 1* Prix St. Georges with a score of 71.029%, and in the CDI 1* Intermediate with 71.863%.

“Red Scarf Equestrian has been recognizing riders and their performances for many years, and I would like to take this opportunity to recognize and thank them for their ongoing awards,” said Dvorak. “I am honoured to be named the Dressage Athlete of the Month. Cyrus and Ribot have really reached a consistency in their work, and I am excited about their future performances.”

As the Dressage Athlete of the Month for May, Dvorak will be receiving a generous gift certificate from Red Scarf Equestrian that can be used toward the purchase of elegant equestrian luggage, travel bags and accessories that are all made in Canada.
