Equestrian Canada (EC) has named Lori Bell of Beaverton, ON the June 2018 Red Scarf Equestrian Dressage Athlete of the month in recognition of the hat trick she earned at the Cedar Valley CDI 3*, held June 15-17, 2018, in Cedar Valley, ON.
Competing in the CDI 1* division, Bell earned three scores over 70%, each of which represented a personal best with her 10-year-old Oldenburg gelding, Flirt (Florencio x Donnerhall).
Bell and Flirt started their impressive run on June 15 with a win in the Prix St. Georges on a score of 71.373%. The next day, the pair topped the Intermediate I, scoring 71.520%. On June 17, Bell closed the competition in the Intermediate I Freestyle with a score of 70.583% for a final win.
“What an honour, to win my first Red Scarf Equestrian Dressage Athlete of the Month Award,” said Bell. “Winning all three classes in the Cedar Valley CDI small tour was so exciting. Flirt is a horse of a lifetime for me – he is always trying to do his best. I am so happy and grateful to be blessed with my wonderful boy! As the Dressage Athlete of the Month for June, Bell will be receiving a generous gift certificate from Red Scarf Equestrian that can be used toward the purchase of elegant equestrian luggage, travel bags and accessories that are all made in Canada.
